An old, scarred sailor arrives at the Admiral Benbow inn, where young Jim Hawkins works. Billy Bones, as the man is known, fills Jim’s ears with stories of the open sea and warns him to be on the lookout for a one-legged man. Some of Bones’ former shipmates appear and give him a slip of paper with a black spot on it, terrifying the old man. Bones dies of a stroke, and Jim escapes with his treasure map as the other sailors scour the inn. Jim takes the map to Dr. Livesey, who forms a plan with his friend Squire Trelawney to sail after the treasure, which was buried by the pirate Captain Flint. treasure-island-cover.jpg Jim travels to Bristol to meet up with the ship, the Hispaniola. In Bristol, he meets the ship’s cook, Long John Silver, a one-legged man who recommended many of the ship’s crew to Trelawney. Despite Billy Bones warning about a one-legged man, Jim is won over by Silver’s friendly charm. Then, after an uneventful voyage, Jim is on deck one night and overhears Silver plotting a mutiny. Soon after, land is sighted, and Jim tells the captain, Livesey, and Trelawney what he’s heard. Alarmed, the men plan to split up the crew to improve their odds, and Jim goes ashore with Silver and the others. While on the island, Jim sees Silver kill a sailor who won’t join the mutiny and meets Ben Gunn, a marooned sailor who lives on the island. Meanwhile, Dr. Livesey, Squire Trelawney, and the others leave the ship and find a stockade on the island, where they settle in for a fight. Under Captain Smollett’s command, they weather the pirates’ first attack. Jim arrives at the stockade and joins the defenders. Long John Silver comes to negotiate with them, but the captain sends him away. The pirates storm the stockade, and several men are killed and Captain Smollett wounded in a bloody battle. The next day, Jim sneaks away with a plan to cut loose the Hispaniola and strand the pirates. After a dangerous trip, Jim succeeds in freeing the ship. He then jumps aboard, where he finds one watchman dead and the other drunk and wounded. Jim and the wounded pirate team up to steer the ship; then the pirate turns on Jim, but Jim kills the pirate in the ensuing fight. After anchoring the ship in a new place to fool the pirates, Jim returns to the stockade, where he is captured by Silver’s men. Silver tells Jim that Dr. Livesey and the others agreed to give the pirates the stockade and the treasure map. (Dr. Livesey did this because he discovered that Ben Gunn had already dug up the treasure.) Silver lets Jim live when Jim promises to testify for him if the mutineers are caught. Silver’s men are losing confidence in him, and Silver’s treatment of Jim makes them suspicious. The pirates set out to look for the treasure, but find only an empty hole. When they turn on Silver and Jim, Dr. Livesey, Ben Gunn, and another loyal man ambush the pirates and drive them off. They rejoin the captain and Squire Trelawney, who are waiting with the treasure. They sail back to England, but Silver escapes when they land in South America.

Carol lives with her father and mother in Hong Kong. Her father is on  business trip by plane. The day that he comes back there’s a plane accident.  First she doesn’t think that her father can sit in that plane. But later as she  thinks it over, she calls her mother. They drive to the airplane and there they  hear that her father has died.
That was really hard for Carol and her mother. Carol doesn’t listen to  the music of her favourite singer Jake Rosso anymore. He was also killed in an  accident. Her mother concludes to go back to England, because Carol was expelled  from school.
So they go to England and live in a hotel for a long time. Her mother  finds a job as secretary and her workplace is on a little island somewhere in  Scotland. She can live there with Carol. As she arrives at the house, she meets  Mr. Ross. He is her boss. Mr. Ross is a young man with a moustache. While  Carol’s mother works, Carol helps on the farm on the island.
One day when she comes back from horse riding she looks up and she sees  an old man in a window. He looks away when she looks at him. The next day  Carol makes some pictures of the house. While she looks in her camera Mr. Ross  gets out. She wants to make a picture but then the gardener comes toward her and  takes the camera out of her hands and demolishes her photograph cotton reel. She  is shocked. When she asks why she can’t make a photo he said that you never must  make a photo of Mr. Ross. She finds it all completely mysterious.
That evening she begins researching and she goes to the room the window  belongs to. There’s light in the room. She waits and looks. Then the door is  opening. Mr. Ross comes out of the room. Carol hides in her room. She sees that  Mr. Ross puts the keys in the plant barge. The next day she goes up to the room,  picks up the keys and enters the room. She looks around and sees a lot of  posters of Jack Rosso in the room.
Then Mr. Ross is coming in the room. She is shocked and looks at the  posters. Then she sees it: Mr. Ross is Jack Rosso. She shouted: “You are Jack  Rosso!” Just as Mr. Ross says nothing. But then he says the he is Jack Rosso. He  says: “In the past I was on drugs and I was addicted to alcohol. I was drunk,  got in the car and then I ran over a 15 year old girl and killed her, but I  drove further. Later I realised what I had done and I wanted to die.
He says, I had a plan: I pretended there was an accident and I was  dead”
She finds it strange that she lives on a island with a dead man. Later  she leaves from the island. Now she is at school and she is very happy.

Carol, babası ve annesiyle birlikte  Hong Kong’ ta yaşamaktadır. Babası uçakla iş seyahatinde idi. Onun geri döneceği  gün, bir uçak kazası olur. Carol, önce babasının o uçakta olduğunu düşünmez.  Fakat daha sonra onun üzerinde düşününce annesini arar. Onlar havaalanına  giderler ve orada babasının öldüğünü öğrenirler.

Niçin resim çekemeyeceğini sorduğunda, (bahçıvan) Mr. Ross’ un  fotoğrafını asla çekmemesini söyler. Carol, bunların hepsini tamamiyle gizemli  bulur.
O akşamüstü, Carol araştırmaya başlar ve pencerenin olduğu odaya gider.  Odada ışık vardır. Bekler ve bakar. Sonra kapı açılır ve Mr.Ross odadan dışarıya  çıkar. Carol odasına saklanır. Mr. Ross’un anahtarları bitki fideliğinin içine  koyduğunu görür. (Carol) Ertesi gün odaya çıkar, anahtarları toplar ve odaya  girer. Etrafa bakar ve odada Jack Rosso’ nun birçok posterini görür.
Sonra, Mr. Ross odaya gelir. Carol şok olmuş ve posterlere bakmaktadır.  Bu durumda şunu anlamıştır; Mr. Ross is Jack Rosso. “Sen Jack Rosso’sun.” diye  bağırır. Mr. Ross önce hiçbirşey söylemez. Ancak daha sonra, Jack Rosso olduğunu  söyler. Geçmişte uyuşturucu ve alkol bağımlısı olduğunu, sarhoşken arabaya  bindiğini ve 15 yaşında bir kızı çiğneyerek öldürdüğünü fakat sürmeye (araba  kullanmaya) devam ettiğini, daha sonra ne yaptığının farkına vardığını ve ölmek  istediğini söyler.
“Bir planım vardı; Kaza olmuş gibi numara yaptım ve ölmüştüm.” der.
Carol, ölü bir adamla da yaşamayı tuhaf bulur. Daha sonra, adadan  ayrılır. Şimdi okulda ve çok mutludur.
