When Heidi, a little Swiss orphan girl, is five years old, she is taken by her Aunt Detie to live with her grandfather. His home is high up on the mountain slopes; he has quarrelled with those who live down below in the village of Dörfli, where he is known as 'Uncle Alp'. Grandfather and Heidi get on very well together, and she settles happily into her new home. She spends many enjoyable hours up on the high pastures with Peter, who looks after the villagers' goats. She also very much enjoys visiting Peter's blind grandmother, whom she calls Grannie.
When Heidi is eight years old, her Aunt Detie, who is working in Frankfurt, Germany, comes to see her. She takes Heidi to live in Frankfurt as a companion to a twelve-year-old girl called Clara Sesemann who is an invalid and is unable to walk.
Clara, her father, and her Grandmamma all become very fond of the little Swiss girl.However, Miss Rottenmeier, the Sesemann housekeeper, does not like Heidi because she has scruffy clothes, cannot read, and has not learnt how to behave in a grand house. Heidi does things which Miss Rottenmeier thinks are very naughty, like going out alone and bringing home some kittens.
As time goes by, Heidi becomes more and more homesick. Clara's Grandmamma sees that she is unhappy and suggests that Heidi should pray to God for help. She also makes sure that Heidi learns to read and gives her a picture book with stories from the Bible. But Heidi is still unhappy and she starts to sleepwalk; it is at this point that Clara's doctor, Dr Classen, insists that Heidi be allowed to return home.
Back in the mountains, Heidi shares her new belief in God with Grandfather. He is very moved and decides to start going to church again. He also arranges to live in the village during the winter so that Heidi can go to school. Dr Classen, Clara, Grandmamma and Mr Sesemann all travel from Frankfurt to visit Heidi. Clara is allowed to stay with Heidi in the hut on the mountain, and with Grandfather's help she learns to walk again. Peter the goatherd is angry with Clara for taking Heidi's attention away from him, so he pushes her wheelchair over a cliff into the valley below. However Grandmamma understands why he has done this. She knows that he feels guilty, so instead of punishing him she rewards him with some money. The Sesemann family give presents to Heidi and to Peter's blind grandmother in order to make her life more comfortable. They promise Heidi's grandfather that they will make sure Heidi is taken care of after his death.
The story ends with Heidi and Grannie talking together, and thanking God for all the good things He has brought into their lives.

Medlock is sent to take her to the manor. Normally the 500 year old
Misselthwaite Manor on the Yorkshire moors isn’t a place for a child to grow up.
There are about a thousand rooms hundreds
locked so no one can go in.
There is a big mystery about a secret garden that had been locked up ten years
ago. A young housemaid called Martha has to look after Mary. First Mary doesn’t
like her much but because Martha is
so nice and funny she soon starts liking her. Martha gives her a skipping
rope so Mary can play in
the many gardens of Misslethwaite Manor. In the gardens she meets Ben
Weatherstaff an old gardener and his robin. The
robin becomes Mary’s first friend. He shows her the key to the secret garden and
also the door hidden under thick ivy. As soon as she enters the garden it becomes her own
little mystic world. One day she hears cries and looks for the person (It isn’t
the first time she has heard it but every time she
wanted to look somebody stopped her and gave her some explanation). In a room
behind a tapestry she finds a boy Colin
Craven her cousin. He can’t
walk nor stand up and everybody thinks
that he’s going to die. His father has never wanted to see him because he’s so
different from his dead mother. With Dickon
Martha’s brother and Mary he goes into
the secret garden in a kind of a wheel chair and
learns to walk. They all say it’s “Magic” that made all these wonders possible:
Colin’s walking Mary’s change into a
nice girl and her joy in the secret garden.

An old, scarred sailor arrives at the Admiral Benbow inn, where young Jim Hawkins works. Billy Bones, as the man is known, fills Jim’s ears with stories of the open sea and warns him to be on the lookout for a one-legged man. Some of Bones’ former shipmates appear and give him a slip of paper with a black spot on it, terrifying the old man. Bones dies of a stroke, and Jim escapes with his treasure map as the other sailors scour the inn. Jim takes the map to Dr. Livesey, who forms a plan with his friend Squire Trelawney to sail after the treasure, which was buried by the pirate Captain Flint. treasure-island-cover.jpg Jim travels to Bristol to meet up with the ship, the Hispaniola. In Bristol, he meets the ship’s cook, Long John Silver, a one-legged man who recommended many of the ship’s crew to Trelawney. Despite Billy Bones warning about a one-legged man, Jim is won over by Silver’s friendly charm. Then, after an uneventful voyage, Jim is on deck one night and overhears Silver plotting a mutiny. Soon after, land is sighted, and Jim tells the captain, Livesey, and Trelawney what he’s heard. Alarmed, the men plan to split up the crew to improve their odds, and Jim goes ashore with Silver and the others. While on the island, Jim sees Silver kill a sailor who won’t join the mutiny and meets Ben Gunn, a marooned sailor who lives on the island. Meanwhile, Dr. Livesey, Squire Trelawney, and the others leave the ship and find a stockade on the island, where they settle in for a fight. Under Captain Smollett’s command, they weather the pirates’ first attack. Jim arrives at the stockade and joins the defenders. Long John Silver comes to negotiate with them, but the captain sends him away. The pirates storm the stockade, and several men are killed and Captain Smollett wounded in a bloody battle. The next day, Jim sneaks away with a plan to cut loose the Hispaniola and strand the pirates. After a dangerous trip, Jim succeeds in freeing the ship. He then jumps aboard, where he finds one watchman dead and the other drunk and wounded. Jim and the wounded pirate team up to steer the ship; then the pirate turns on Jim, but Jim kills the pirate in the ensuing fight. After anchoring the ship in a new place to fool the pirates, Jim returns to the stockade, where he is captured by Silver’s men. Silver tells Jim that Dr. Livesey and the others agreed to give the pirates the stockade and the treasure map. (Dr. Livesey did this because he discovered that Ben Gunn had already dug up the treasure.) Silver lets Jim live when Jim promises to testify for him if the mutineers are caught. Silver’s men are losing confidence in him, and Silver’s treatment of Jim makes them suspicious. The pirates set out to look for the treasure, but find only an empty hole. When they turn on Silver and Jim, Dr. Livesey, Ben Gunn, and another loyal man ambush the pirates and drive them off. They rejoin the captain and Squire Trelawney, who are waiting with the treasure. They sail back to England, but Silver escapes when they land in South America.

Peter Pan opens in London, in the home of the slightly eccentric, but typical, Darling family. Mr. and Mrs. Darling worry about paying the bills, and cut corners to make ends meet. Hence the childrens’ nurse, Nana, a Newfoundland dog who cares for Wendy, John and little Michael as they sleep, watching them protectively from her kennel in the nursery.
But who is this Peter Pan of whom the children speak? Surely he must be a figment of their imagination, appearing only in dreams? Yet to Mrs. Darling, the name brings with it a nagging sensation of youthful memories, long since muddied by adulthood.
One evening Mrs. Darling dreams of a place called the Neverland and a strange boy who never grows up. Startled, she awakes to find him before her. Mrs. Darling’s cry alerts Nana who barges into the room and slams shut the window; the boy narrowly escapes through it, leaving behind his trapped shadow.

Peter returns for his shadow and this time meets Wendy, who sews it back on for him.  The cocky but lovable Peter invites Wendy, John and Michael to the Neverland, teaching them to fly and guiding them over the oceans to this fantastical realm of fairies, mermaids and redskins.  There, Wendy enthusiastically takes up the role of chiding but loving mother to Peter and his young companions, the lost boys, in their underground home.
But not everything is perfect in the Neverland. Capt. James Hook, an educated but dastardly pirate, is Peter Pan’s archnemesis and is set on his destruction.  He is hampered in his dreadful course only by his fear of a crocodile that once ate one of his arms and now wants the rest of him.  Hook knows when the crocodile is near thanks to the ticking clock in its belly.
While Wendy contends with the jealousy of the Pan-possessive fairy Tinker Bell, Peter and the boys have plenty of blood-soaked adventures, and even daringly rescue the redskin princess Tiger Lily from Hook’s men.  But eventually Hook succeeds in capturing all the children except their everyoung leader.  It is up toPeter Pan to rescue his friends, dispatch the pirates and settle things once and for all with Capt. James Hook.
While Mr. and Mrs. Darling remain inconsolable and heartbroken, their “gay and innocent and heartless” children become so ensconced in their adventures that they begin to forget their family. But it is only Peter Pan who never grows up; in the end, Wendy, John, Michael and the lost boys find their way home.  It will be for future generations of lucky children to keep Peter company in the Neverland.

 Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert are unmarried siblings who live on their ancestral farm, Green Gables, in the quiet town of Avonlea in Prince Edward Island, Canada. Matthew is sixty, and since he is getting too old to handle the farm work on his own, the Cuthberts decide to adopt an orphan boy to help him. This decision shocks the town gossip, Mrs. Rachel Lynde, who does not think Matthew and Marilla fit to raise a child.

Matthew, who is terrified of women, arrives at the train station and finds a girl orphan instead of a boy; the orphanage sent the eleven-year-old Anne Shirley by mistake. Anne’s talkativeness and spirit charm Matthew, who shyly tells Marilla that he wants to keep her. Marilla hesitates at first, but after a trial period, she agrees to let Anne stay on.
Anne is a talkative and happy girl despite living an impoverished life as an orphan. Though she lacks social graces and education, she has a rich and sophisticated fantasy life and an optimistic and generous spirit. Because Anne acts according to her instincts and not according to a code of manners, she unintentionally defies expectations of proper ladylike behavior. She attends church for the first time wearing a wreath of wildflowers, for example, and screams at Mrs. Rachel for making fun of her red hair. Anne tries hard to oblige Marilla and follow her rules of social conduct, but she makes many mistakes, using liniment instead of vanilla in a cake, letting a mouse drown in the plum-pudding sauce, and delivering a heartfelt but ridiculous prayer on her first attempt to pray before bed.
Anne never had real friends before living at Green Gables, so she was forced to invent imaginary playmates. In Avonlea, she meets Diana Barry, a neighbor who quickly becomes her bosom friend. One afternoon Anne invites Diana to tea and accidentally gives her red currant wine instead of nonalcoholic raspberry cordial. Diana returns home drunk, and Diana’s mother, thinking Anne has intoxicated Diana on purpose, forbids the girls to speak. The agonizing period of estrangement lasts until Anne saves Diana’s sister, who is sick with the croup, which causes Mrs. Barry to forgive her.
At school, Anne feuds with a handsome, smart boy named Gilbert Blythe. When they first meet, Gilbert taunts Anne by calling her Carrots and pulling her red braid. Anne is extremely sensitive about her red hair, and Gilbert’s teasing infuriates her. She screams at him and smashes a slate over his head. This incident marks the beginning of a rivalry between Anne and Gilbert, the two smartest pupils, which lasts until the end of the novel.
As Anne grows up, she loses some of her childish flare for the melodramatic and romantic, and turns her spirited attentions to academics. A beloved teacher, Miss Stacy, recognizes Anne’s intelligence and encourages her to join a special group of students preparing for the entrance exam to Queen’s Academy. Her long-standing competition with Gilbert Blythe changes to an affectionate and familiar rivalry when, after four years of mutual silence, they both go to Queen’s Academy. Striving to make Matthew and Marilla proud, Anne devotes herself to her studies wholeheartedly and earns the prestigious Avery Scholarship, which grants her enough money to attend a four-year college the following fall.
Thrilled by her future prospects, Anne goes home to Green Gables. Matthew, who has been having heart trouble, dies of a heart attack. When Anne learns that Marilla is likely to go blind, she decides to stay at Green Gables and teach nearby so that she can care for Marilla, giving up her aspirations for a four-year degree. Gilbert hears of her decision and gives up his post as the teacher at Avonlea school so that Anne can teach there and be closer to Marilla. After five years of rivalry, Gilbert and Anne forge a close friendship. Though her future path has narrowed considerably, Anne remains eternally optimistic and thinks cheerfully about her future.
